THE HISTORIC GOLCONDA




There are many places of tourist attraction in India.Hyderabad is one and it has many beautiful spots including famous Salarjung Museum, to visit. Golconda fort is one more worthyspot to visit for those who visit the city.
Meaning :The name Golconda is originally a Telugu word. Telugu is the beautiful, musical language of Andhra.Original form of the word is 'GOLLA KONDA'.Golla means sheperd or cattle watcher.Konda means-hill.AS the hiil was once used to graze sheeps and cows, the name got attached to it.
Kakatiya KingsThis place was under the rule of Kakatiya kings, an important dynasty that ruled Andhra. But late the regime of Bahamani kings was there in Golconda from 1363 to 1518 A.D.Sultan Quli and other six his successors of Qutub Shahi dynasty ruled from this place from 1518 to1687.
Among these, first three kings erected the fort in 62 years.It was complete in 1580 A.D.Palaces asnd other bulidings were strengthend and beautified and many different buildings were constructeed till 1587.
BHAGYA NAGAR OR HYDERABAD: In1587, Sultan Ali Qutub Shah laid the foundation for the city by the side of this fort. He named it Bhagya Nagar, Showing his love for his Hindu wife-Bhagmathi.That is present hyderabad.
This fort is Eight kilometers in circumference. It has eight gateways.It has 48 tunnels.There are 87 turrets and pails. The fort had excellent echoing system which was then used as message passing system Even now you can experience it as the guides will show you the system.
Palaces and mosques Inside the fort, in that vast area, many palaces and mosques are seen. They are now ruined but still the guides there will explain youeach part. The court hall, queens' palaces,prisons, gardens, office chambers, etc, are all visible.The water supply system and the message passing system. secret pathways to escape out during emergencies, are all exquisitely fine.
Please visit this fort when you visit Hyderabad. It is different from many forts in north India. Hyderabad has many interesting tourist spots and you should not miss this one.
